The team “Serious Play, Joyful Learning,” comprised of elementary school students, teachers, and parents, has emerged as the first-prize winner in the 6th MediaTek “Smart Hometown” Digital Social Innovation Competition.
The competition, which spanned over five months, announced the award recipients today and hosted an award ceremony.
Hailing from Zhongli, Taoyuan, the “Serious Play, Joyful Learning” team consists of a group of enthusiastic elementary school students, along with parents and teachers who share a love for programming. United by the common philosophy of “learning through play,” they have successfully created the “Crazy Festivals, Play Together” public service programming education platform. This platform encompasses various games, picture books, and learning software, aiming to instill information and programming education at the grassroots level while engaging in innovative on-campus experiments.
The team’s proposal not only aligns with MediaTek’s consistent commitment to promoting science education and cultivating tech talent but also exemplifies a cross-age, cross-background, cross-disciplinary, and cross-generational collaboration to address local issues. This approach perfectly embodies the core principle of “Smart Hometown,” where collective collaboration for the greater good is expected. Recognizing the team’s innovative and collaborative efforts, the judging panel unanimously awarded them the first prize, along with a commendable cash prize of 1 million TWD.
